Starr SC is a city that resides in Anderson County and is located South of the city of Anderson. This small town was established in the late 1830’s and it used to go by the name of Twiggs. The Savannah Valley Railroad was established and completed in 1884. The town was officially chartered in 1888. The name of the town was changed to Starr in the honor of the engineer who operated the train through town.

Old Truss Bridge
The Old Truss Bridge is an historic site that is located off of GA/SC-181 and borders the South Carolina and Georgia line (Click Here). The bridge was a three span bridge that was built in 1922. It used to be a private toll bridge before South Carolina and Georgia acquired the bridge. The two states made the decision to remove the tolls on the bridge while starting the construction on a new bridge directly to the north. The Old Truss Bridge shut down operation in 1983 and is now a popular fishing spot for the locals.
