Old Stone Church

The Old Stone Church is a historic site that is located off of Stone Circle in Clemson South Carolina (Click Here). The church originated by the Hopewell congregation in 1789 to take care of a small Presbyterians and was originally a simple log structure. Due to a unfortunate accident, the structure was burnt down. To make sure that the new church lasted much longer (and to make fire proof), they completed the new church that was made of stone in 1802 by John Rusk. Today, the church plays an active role in the greater Upstate community, hosting weddings, funerals, church services and other gatherings.

This historical site was built in 1845 by James Hagwood and is an operational water-powered gristmill.
