Frequently Asked Questions
Is it cheaper to grind or remove a stump?
It is cheaper to grind than to remove a stump, usually by about $100 to $200. Stump grinding and removal are separate services. Grinding leaves the roots intact, while true removal includes the roots. Grinding is less labor-intensive and time-consuming, thus the lower cost
Why is stump grinding so expensive?
It’s also a physically demanding task that requires the use of heavy machinery. The other problem is that stump grinding requires a lot of equipment. If you don’t already own a chainsaw or the necessary safety gear, you might end up spending more on DIY equipment than you would on a professional tree service.
How long does it take for stump grindings to decompose?
Allow the stump grindings to decompose in your compost heap, along with your other organic waste. It will take approximately three to four months to complete the process, but once the stump grindings have decomposed you will have a nice pile of compost to use in your garden.
Are stump grindings good for the soil?
Using stump grindings as mulch brings many advantages. It helps to insulate the soil making it warmer in winter and cooler when the weather gets hot. They reduce evaporation and are also good for retaining moisture. The grindings even help to reduce weed growth and ultimately they make weed removal easier.

About Conestee South Carolina
Conestee SC is a city that resides in Greenville County and is located to the west of Mauldin. The city of Conestee was also known as “Kanasta” and it is well known for being a historical Cherokee settlement between South Carolina and North Carolina.
Conestee has an exciting variety of outdoor recreation and historical sites for everyone to visit. Examples of such great places are:
Conestee Mill
The mill is located just south of the city along the banks of the Reedy River (Click Here). In the 1830s, Vardry McBee, known as the “Father of Greenville” for developing saw and grist mills around downtown Greenville, purchased 295 acres in the Conestee Village about 7 miles from the city.
McBee and John Adams built the dam in the 1840s. Even though there was a smaller dam, the new dam was built to increase the power of the mill. This dam also provided electricity to the community of Conestee before Greenville ever had electricity.
McBee and Adams continued to expand the Conestee Village until it ceased operations in 1971. Conestee Mill has silently testified to the importance of the area’s historic past. Now, it is coming to life again as Conestee Mill – a beautiful location that’s adjacent to Lake Conestee Nature Park and listed on the National Register. When people finally realized how important this place was to the history of Conestee, they decided to build a vision for the Conestee Mill to make it a vibrant, relevant community that could open its arms firmly around the site’s historic significance.
Conestee Nature Preserve
This preserve has over 400+ acres of Wildlife Sanctuary and is located off of Mauldin Road (Click Here). Their services provide an accessible oasis of natural beauty and unique opportunities for learning and exploration, all within the city limits. The Preserve includes over 13 miles of trails and boardwalks, 11 wildlife observation decks, and 40 self-guided learning stations for all the visitors to explore the untouched value of nature.
Conestee Park
The park is part of the Nature Preserve and is located on the same road. The park is home to the Greenville Little League, Greenville Dirt Series, and many community events. It has other features such as 5 baseball/softball fields, a playground, a .38 mile paved walking trail around the shelter, and a .69 mile paved walking trail around the stadium, a large shelter, green space, direct access to Lake Conestee Nature Preserve, and a dog park.
Statistics
Greenville ranked in the top 5 growing cities in the United States between 2015-2016. In addition, the city has won numerous awards from top players such as Forbes, Insider, and U.S. News and World Report.
Top Sites in Greenville County:
Falls Park on the Reedy
This park is a 32-acre park adjacent to downtown Greenville, South Carolina, in the historic West End district. Considered the birthplace of Greenville, the park was founded in 1967 when the Carolina Foothills Garden Club reclaimed 26 acres of land that had been previously used by textile mills and added a tourist feature called the Liberty Bridge.
Greenville County Museum of Art
The GCMA is home to the world’s largest public collection of watercolors by iconic American artist Andrew Wyeth and is the only museum in the Upstate to be fully accredited by the American Alliance of Museums.
Greenville Zoo
Grenville Zoo is a Zoo that is located southeast of downtown Greenville and opened in 1960.
